Some photos of “Akida” a Serval that Global Animal Transport assisted with the importation of from the Hamilton Zoo in Auckland, New Zealand to the Great Bend Brit Spaugh Zoo in Great Bend, KS.
Margaret Bowen, Curator of Great Bend Brit Spaugh Zoo said: “Akida is safe and sound and getting used to his new quarantine enclosure.”
The Serval is a medium-sized African wild cat. Servals have the longest legs of any cat, relative to their body size.
Servals are native to Africa, widely distributed south of the Sahara. They needs watercourses within their territory, so they do not live in semi-deserts or dry steppes. Servals also avoid dense equatorial jungles, although they may be found along forest fringes. They are able to climb and swim.
